In 2005 Matt first took the reigns of his own business as a Master Franchisor within the building industry, and over the next two decades he worked shoulder to shoulder with builders — guiding, mentoring, and scaling some of the state’s most successful operations. He grew his business in NSW from a few small offices to 34 active locations delivering over 800 homes a year.
Over that time, he developed systems that make a franchise model genuinely empower builders — and saw firsthand how red tape, bureaucracy, and one-size-fits-all thinking can erode their independence. Too many models were bloated, over-complicated, and detached from the people actually doing the building. They offered scale — but at the cost of identity. That wasn’t good enough.
So, he started again. From scratch. That’s how Wattle Court was born.
